It's Me! Dobby!

Four years ago today, I came to live with Mommy and Merlin and Max.

I want to say thank you to my first Mom, Cecilia, who brought me here after rescuing me.

I am a big old 20 pound boy now, and I love to snuggle with my Mom. I still lick noses, and bathtubs, and soda cans. I am told I am quite the excellent snuggler.

I know we haven't blogged much, but I didn't want to let this important day go by unnoticed. :)

Is anybody out there? We'd nearly forgotten we even HAD a blog, it's been so long since Mom let us write.

So much has changed, we've been lots of places, we can't even begin to explain, but we're back living in Memphis now. Mom has a job she likes, and she's keeping us well-fed, as you can see in this picture of us.

We are going to try to blog more often, but we wanted to say Happy Holidays and everyone have a wonderful, happy, safe, stinky good New Year!

I know we haven't been around for a long time, but we need your purrs really bad.

This is our cousin Wrigley. He lives in Charlotte, North Caroliner with my Auntie and Uncle, a little girl with curly hair, and two other kitties. My Auntie doesn't know where he is-- he is an inside kitty and doesn't like to go outside much, but they can't find hims in the house ANYWHERES. Please send out your purrs and purrayers that he will be found soon.

Also, you kitties who like to look out windows (and who doesn't?) please keep an eye out for him, and if you see him, tell him to go STRAIGHT HOME. Thanks furry much.

Secret Paws!

We got our Secret Paws!!! (Actually we got them like a week ago but Mom was really slow postin' our pickshures). Merlin's came from Kali, and Dobby's came from Derby!

Also note that box of Turtles. I dunno what that is, but Mom was happy about it.

Then we opened Dobby's. It had a byoo-ti-ful mug in it, for our Mom.

Dobby sniffed the gift bag, just wondering what was inside.

And.. and.... NIP RAVIOLI!!!!

Dobby and Merlin both played with the Ravioli... and then streaked around the house, and finally crashed for a catnap.

All I Need to Know

Look, we all know that cats know everything. And most of us are pretty good at teachin' our beans what they need to know. This one ladybean had a cat named Binky, and she learned a whole lot from Binky. So the ladybean wrote a book about how much she's learned from Binky, even though Binky has gone to the Rainbow Bridge, the ladybean still remembered all the important lessons that she learned from Binky over the whole 18 1/2 years of Binky's life! Isn't that a very neat thing, and very nice of the ladybean to do.

I wonder why Mom hasn't written a book about all she's learned from me. Anyway.

So the ladybean wrote the book, and so many beans and kitties liked it, that they re-issued it with new stuff! The nice people at the publisher sent me a copy of it, because they wanted to get a kitty's opinion. But they didn't pay me or anything. Maybe I should look into that.

So the book has LOTS of important rules that all cats know, and that beans should learn. One of my favorites is "Be Hard to Leave." Look, nobody's better than cats (except maybe bean blurpy things) at making sure to be hard to leave. I know I am VERY good at it. See, here's the picture from the book.
See that? Okay, now for an example of how skilled I am at this particular characteristic, I present the following picture. Just so you know, this isn't staged for this particular post, this picture was first posted exactly one year ago today.

See? I am very good at this stuff. Even though I already know everything, readin' the book was good for me, cause it reminded me of all the things that are important to remember, and things that I have to be sure to remind my Mom and Dad about a lot.

The book also has a quiz in it, so beans can find out if they are "cat people." Whatever that means, who doesn't like cats? But Mom says that the quiz was really funny, and that especially all our cat blogosphere friends would particularly appreciate it.

Mom read the book, too. She laughed and laughed, and she said "awwww" a couple times, too. And it made her want to hug me and kiss me and pet me, so I liked that. She liked the book a lot, and said she was going to give it to some people for Chrissymouse. If you're one of those people, I hope I didn't just spoil the surprise. Mom says the book isn't very spensive and would prolly make a good stockin' stuffer.

Hi! It's me, Dobby!

It is already chilly at our house, especially at night. The windows are still open, though, during the day so Merlin can talk to the birdies. I think the birdies would be lonesome if Merlin didn't talk to them every day. I like to sit in the window, too, but I don't talk. I just smell the smells and feel the breeze and look at the birdies.

It's so chilly that at night, when I get up on Mom and Dad's bed to cuddle and sleep? MERLIN IS ALREADY THERE. He NEVER used to be on the bed. But now he gets up there and snuggles up and gets some of my cuddle time. But I guess that's okay, because then I can cuddle with him, too, sometimes. And then I can chew on his whiskers. Hee! I love to do that.

We got Mom to order us some of those Nip Raviolis because Merlin's girlfriend Daphne and her family really really liked them. They sound really GREAT and Mom said that we could have them because they don't have bells or jingles (right?) or feathers for us to rip off and leave all over the place. We are furry excited and can't wait for them to get here!!!

I have been enjoying my birthday by chasing Merlin around and chewing some more on his whiskers. Now I am settling down for my nap on Mom & Dad's bed. There are some things that Mom has hidden away that I think are for me, but I haven't gotten them yet. When I do I will update and let you know what I get!!!!

As you could probably figure out, it is also my sister Madness' birthday. It seems like such a long time since she and I lived in that field before my First Mom rescued me. We are very lucky kitties.

And I know we haven't blogged lately, so I thought I'd post about our new place and answer some of your questions.

We moved so far away from Tennessee, it took us three days to get here!!! We live in Col-oh-rah-do now. It's nice and cool here, and there's lots of different kinds of birdies. And our windows are open EVERY DAY. We like that a lot. We still have the same furniture, though. But now we have carpet, and that's a new adventure. We like to dig our claws into it. Mom says she's ordered some Softpaws for us, though, so we have to enjoy that while it lasts. At the top of the steps, there's a little spot where we can look through the railing and see downstairs. We like to lie there and keep an eye on Max and Mommy and Daddy. We like to hide under the bed, and have naps there too. But, since the window's open, we can lie on the bed and have the outside wind come in on us and that's most wonderful for napping.

We like it a lot here.

Why We Haven't Blogged Lately

Hi! It's me, Dobby!

Guess what?

It's a long story.

So. One day, Mom locked me and Merlin up in a room in our house and made us stay in there all day. We don't like that. It was noisy, too, but we didn't know what was going on. THEN Mom came back and put us in a carrier which you KNOW we don't like cause that means VET. Then she put us in the car. But we didn't go to the VET. We kept going and going and going. We slept a lot. She was going to let us ride separately, but we liked it better when we were in the same carrier, so we could bathe each other and stuff. Then we got somewhere, and Mom took us inside a room where we slept-- Mom was there, and Daddy and Max too. That room just had a bed in it. It wasn't very excitin'.

The next day? More riding. And riding and riding and riding and riding. We rode for a really really long time. Then there was ANOTHER boring room to sleep in. Then? You won't believe it. MORE RIDING.

But we finally got to this place where we were going. Mom said we're going to live here now. It's different, but we've decided we like it. The windows are all open, which Merlin says wouldn't happen at our old house. We still live with Mom and Dad and Max. And I still sleep on the bed with Mom and Dad at night. And Merlin and I like to sleep under their bed during the day. There's lots of different birdies, too.

We've been sooo busy gettin' used to our new place that we haven't had much time to blog. And Mommy has a new job she'll be starting, so she might be too busy to help us, but we will still be around!!!

Here we are, sleepin' during the world's longest ride.

I also wanted to say that (shhh don't tell) both Merlin & Dobby have received their Secret Paw packages. They have NOT opened them yet. They will do that this weekend. Now that Merlin has made it 9 whole days without inappropriate pooping. :)

Also, they have just today sent out their Secret Paws. I am very sorry we are late. If you haven't received your Secret Paws, it's probably my fault.

Hi Innernets! Don't worry about us, we're still around. There's a lot of stuff goin' on at our house and Mom's been real busy and she hasn't let us use the computer.

Mom says that since I pooped in the wrong place for three straight days we have to wait to get what's in the packages. So I'm on day number two of NOT pooping in the wrong place. Hi! It's me, Dobby. Well the guests did finally leave. Mommy tried to tell me that the people visiting us DO like kitties, but I didn't want to find out. So after the guests went to bed I would come out and snuggle with Mommy and Daddy and get as much attention as I could, then I would hide again the mornings. But after they left, we enjoyed our Sunday afternoon and got some good sleep, knowing all was right with the world.

So Mommy said we were having "guests." I don't know what that means, but it sounded fine. What I found out is, GUESTS ARE STRANGERS that come to your house AND DON'T GO AWAY! They were here at dinner last night, which I didn't like, but figured it'd be okay, cause there are lots of times strangers here at dinner time, but they leave. Last night I slept on Mommy and Daddy's bed with them just like normal, and everything was fine, but then I woke up this morning and realized THESE STRANGERS ARE STILL HERE. I don't like it. NOT AT ALL.

1. I don't really know what to confess because I never do anything wrong.
2. Or at least if I do, nobody knows about it, so there's no way I'm confessing it now.
3. I will say that despite my manliness, I do get startled sometimes and have to run and hide under the couch.
4. Also, I am really glad that my whiskers are growing back, even though I pretend it's no big deal.
5. I really like Dobby, even though I sometimes pretend he's a pest.

Hi! It's me, Dobby! Didya know that yesterday was my big brother's birthday? He's TWO. That's very old. Anyway, he got a brand new pretty purple collar, and he was very happy about it. 1. I HAVE VERY SHORT WHISKERS CURRENTLY.

2. I don't like any loud noises or sudden movements. I just prefer quiet and calm.

3. I'd rather lie next to a bean than be held by a bean. It's more independent that way, you know?

4. I am very happy lately because the windows in our house are all open. I like to sit in the window and smell the fresh air and talk to birdies.

5. When I hear a loud noise or get startled I run to the couch and make myself as flat as I can and scoot under there. I can stay there all day.

6. I like having my belly rubbed but not my chin.

7. I'm Mommy's favorite.

Seven things about Dobby:

1. I recently learned a new trick. If I lie down on my back, someone will rub my belly! I like that.

2. I can sneak up on Mommy and Daddy's bed when they're sleepin' and they won't even know I'm there.

3. I chewed off Merlin's whiskers. Hee hee hee.

4. I think it is my very important duty to lick the tub when a bean gets out of the shower.

5. Whenever ANYONE is in the bathroom, I absolutely MUST be in there too. That time must be used for pets, tub licking, belly rubbing, and definitely snacking, as that is where my food is.

6. Look. No matter what it is that I'm doing, it has to be done in a hurry. That is why I run everywhere I go. It's none of your business, just understand that it's important.

7. I'm Mommy's favorite.

Dobby may look all sweet and innocent, but let me tell you somethin'. He's a whisker eater! I don't know why, but for some reason the little weirdo likes to chew on my whiskers! When he's cleaning me, which, you know, as a younger brother he is required to do, he CHEWS ON MY WHISKERS, which isn't cool. Now all my whiskers are stubby and short and ridiculous looking. I hope Daphne doesn't mind, because really, I think I look silly and not nearly as handsome as usual.

Mystery

Hello innernets! Merlin here.

So we have a big mystery at our house this morning.

*Someone* pooped and peed on the bathmat during the night. And then, between Dad leaving for work and Mom getting up, *someone* pooped on Max's bed in the kitchen (Max's bed is really a big bathmat, too)...

Who dunit?

I wanted to blame it on Max, since Mom says that the pee didn't smell like cat pee. Not very ammonia-like. BUT.... there wasn't that much of it. And the poop, Mom says, is too small to be from a woofie. Plus, Max was outside when the second incident occurred. So I guess he's in the clear.

This morning, neither I nor Dobby appeared to behave like a guilty kitty... Also, nobody seems to be feelin' poorly. So Mom is completely stumped. Neither of us has ever not used the litter box. So she's gonna go buy new litter boxes and fill them with fresh litter, in case the boxes are offending us. But I'm not giving her any hints...

I'm just playing it cool. As you can see.

And here's Dobby, bein' cute. All the time, he's cute. I wish he'd quit that.

It's Me! Dobby! As Merlin told you yesterday, my mom has a really bad sickness called the March Madness. She even has a blog about it! 'Cept Mom says that half the size of Merlin is about the size of a regular sized cat. But I wanna be big like him!

So my Mommy took my food away from me last night! I don't know why she'd be so mean to do that. I was so hungry! This morning, she put Dobby in his carrier and then she gave me my food back. So now I unnerstand, Dobby had to go the V-E-T today and so he wasn't allowed to eat. So that means I don't get to eat? How is that fair? Doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, the little bro's gettin' his goodie sack taken care of today, so y'all keep his goodie sack in your purrayers.

Also, Mr. Hendrix had an awesome idea about how we can help Mu Shue's momma get him all better. So go visit his page. Cause we know Mu Shue's momma wants to get him feelin' better and she needs help. Incidentally, Mu Shue's kinda my brother-in-law now, cause his little Sister Iris and my little bro Dobby seem to have somethin' goin' on. Wonder if she knows about his goodie sack? :) Hee Hee.

6:37 pm: Dobby is home. He doesn't seem to notice that he's missin' his goodie sack. He's already followin' me around and eatin' my food, just like normal.

Since my tongue has been hurting (it is getting better), I've not been doing as good as job at cleaning myself as I would normally do. But my little bro was helpin' me out with that. So, the kid brought some stuff with him when he came to live here with us. One of those things was this cat cup bed thingy. Now, I've never been interested in a cat bed. My mom had one for me when I was a kid, but I didn't sleep in it, so she put it away.

Question from Mom

Hi! Thanks everybody for sending good purrs for Merlin to feel better. I'm sure he'll back to normal soon.

I have a question for cats from multi-cat households. I knew that Merlin would want to eat Dobby's kitten food, and I have put up a gate to that room that Dobby can scoot under, but Merlin can't. So Dobby's food is safe from Merlin. But...

Dobby wants to eat Merlin's food. Every time I see him eating Merlin's food, I pick him up and take him to his own bowl. Is there any other suggestion? Is it BAD for Dobby to eat grown up cat food? Anywhere Merlin can get, Dobby can too, so I don't know how I could keep it away from Dobby but still keep it where Merlin can eat.

Any ideas? Dobby doesn't eat that much of it, and he eats plenty of his kitten food. Should I just continue what I'm doing?

Well. I had to go to the V-E-T this morning. I'm home now. I'm going to take a nap, but I wanted to let everybody know I was okay.

Boy I was mad! First, I fought Mom like crazy when she tried to put me in the carrier. Then I YELLED AT HER all the way to the vet.

When we got there and we were sittin' in the lobby waitin', I met another kitty named Sissy. She was mad, too. There was also a Meezer kitty that apparently lives at the vet. Can you imagine? Living there? Wouldn't that be strange.

So next they took me back to the little room and weighed me. 15.5 pounds. Perfect.

Then they took my temperature and YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. I was displeased to say the least. I had a little bit of a fever, too. Then they looked in my mouth. I have an ulcer on my tongue. I knew that all along, but you know how beans are. The VET lady said that it could come from licking some sort of chemical (like cleaning solution or something) or maybe I bit my tongue real good and it just got worse. I know which it is, but I'm not telling. Mom has been searching the house for chemicals that I could have found.

Anyway, they also TOOK MY BLOOD AWAY (don't I need that?) to make sure the ulcer wasn't caused by some sort of kidney or liver problem. Nope! I'm all good in that department. So I got some antibiotics and they let me go home. I have to take the medicines for a week and go back.

Dobby was makin' fun of me that I have to go back, but what he doesn't know is he has to go with me. It's gettin' to be that time for you know what, but he doesn't know what! Ha! Say bye bye to those man-parts, kid.

I'm off to nap and stuff. Talk to y'all later. Here's a picture showin' how mad I was to be in my carrier. I tried to climb as far into the corner as I could.

Not feelin' good

I'm not feelin' good. Mommy says if I don't feel better by tomorrow mornin' I have to go to the V-E-T. So I'll just have to feel better. I've got too much spit! I made a drool puddle when I slept. And when I'm awake, I smack my lips some. Also I'm sleepin' alot. But I am still purrin' and followin' Mom around and floppin' on the floor for belly rubs. And I'm still playin' with Dobby too. Mom's worried about me.

Me and my new brother Dobby have been busy. Sorry we haven't updated much, we've been really tired. But here we are, look how much alike we look! Mom was tryin' to catch us sleepin' together, but we heard her coming and sat up.

Here's Dobby thinkin' about bloggin. He's not sure he's ready for that yet, but he's gettin' ready.

Mom says to let you know that she is gettin' more snugglin' now. We finally started restin' from the playin'.

I like my brother so far! He chases me, and I chase him. The only problem is when I eat his food, Mom says it's for Dobby, it's not for me. But he eats MY food!!!! When Mom sees him do it, she takes him to his own food, but he sneaks back to my dish. Dude, what's up with that? Also, sometimes when I'm eating or drinkin', he'll try to attack my tail. That's uncool, cause I'm busy and I can't put the smackdown on him right then.

But, I guess he's pretty fun to have around. I have someone to keep me company while Mom's not home AND he plays with me at night while Mom & Dad are sleepin'. That's fun, too.

Merlin's Mom here again.

I'm feeling neglected so I thought I'd post. Merlin and Dobby don't have much interest in me anymore. They're too busy playing for much attention for Mom.

Dobby has been released from his room, and the two cats are exploring the whole house together. Late at night. Quite noisily. We could hear them in the upstairs bedroom (which is right over our bedroom) pouncing around in the wee hours.

And this morning I did get a little snuggle time, but mostly the kitties had kitty business to attend to.

I will try to post some pictures soon, if they will stop running for long enough. I seriously did not know Merlin could move that quickly! He's not going to catch Dobby, though, that little kitten has some serious speed.

Okay, guys, this is Merlin's Mom.

Merlin is busy with Dobby right now.

Tonight when I got home from work I went to Dobby's room to say hello and give him some love. I let Merlin follow me in, to see what would happen. He came in behind me, and just started sniffing EVERYTHING. They saw each other and just looked at each other. NO HISSING AT ALL! Dobby was just eating, and coming to me for rubs, and frolicking around.

Then they started checking each other out. Merlin was just watching, and would occasionally approach Dobby, but not much was happening.

Then they started playing!

Dobby took cover under this robe-draped chair, and they were swatting at each other. It made me nervous for Dobby, so I called Merlin off... And what happened? Dobby chased after him!

At least I hope they're playing. There are no puffy tails involved, and Merlin will occasionally just flop down on his side (in his chilled out posture). Dobby has hissed a couple times and had his ears flat, but if Merlin leaves him, Dobby just chases after him. I tried to pick Dobby up and out of the fray, but he just squirms to get away and back after Merlin (after he licks my face a little).

What do you cats think? Is everything okay here? Should I limit this? I won't let them hang out unsupervised, and I don't want to interrupt playtime, but I don't want either of them to be uncomfortable...

Mom and I have decided that it will be appropriate, when the time comes, to SHARE my blog with Dobby, rather than him having his own.

Therefore, we will need to consider a change of Blog name. Does anycat have a suggestion? Merlin & Dobby's Meows just doesn't have quite the same ring to it. I could keep the same name and just let Dobby chime in sometimes... Whaddya think?

I Met Him!

So, I met my brother Dobby! He was sleeping and I went up to him and sniffed him and checked him out. Then, when he woke up, I looked at him some more. I hissed a little, and he hissed back! Then I just kept comin' back around to look at him, and he'd look at me. Then I just sprawled out on the floor, and he went back to sleep. That's it so far, I'm just busy with my regular routine and haven't paid that much attention to him. He's boring. He's been sleepin'. But Mom says that he had a busy day yesterday, with the travelin', and when he gets rested and used to our house he'll be ready to play with me soon.

Here he is with Mom. He was lickin' her nose, even though it doesn't show in the picture. He also likes to lick Daddy's nose. Since I don't lick faces, it makes me wonder if he's really Skeezix's brother and not mine. ;)

Okay, did anycat understand that me getting a brother meant there would be ANOTHER CAT IN MY HOUSE? Dudes. I'm sure it'll turn out okay, but seriously.

I haven't actually seen him yet. My mom did, though. She took some pictures. Here he is, when he first got here he was hiding behind my stroller...
Bubbles and Mrs. B. sent him with his cube, so he checked that out.
Bubbles & Mrs. B also sent his bed and blanket (thanks guys!), and so he'd feel at home. Mom says he's sleepin' right now. That lump on the bottom left is him!

Today's the Day!

Hey, y'all, guess what? LT is on his way to my house RIGHT NOW.

Mom is going to the pet store in a little while to make sure we have the flavor of Temptayshuns that LT likes best (LT's savior and current mom Cecilia says he likes savory salmon), so he'll be happy when he gets here.

Yesterday Cecilia left a comment that LT was more like Dobby (a house elf from the world of the Great Wizard Harry Potter) than the evil Voldemort. We told Daddy about that name idea and he LOVED it!!! Dobby is very cute and silly and full of mischief, so that should be a really great name for my new brother. Today when he gets here I will ask him if he likes that name.

I hope I get to hang out with him soon. I have to wait until he gets used to bein' here and stuff before we can really get to know each other, but I'm lookin' forward to meetin' him.

One More Day!

LT will be at our house tomorrow. I'm gettin' really excited.

So, to answer some of the questions you've asked:

If his name is Hairy Potter, we will just call him Hairy. We is also considerin' namin' him Valdemort ("he who shall not be named") since he is apparently quite the mischievous little guy. Mom isn't sure about that one b/c Valdemort is evil, and LT doesn't look evil, he looks sweet.

We ordered blue soft paws for LT to wear. As a kitten, they only have three choices. Pink (and that's Skeezix's domain), clear (Boooorrrrring) and blue. So Blue it is! For those of you new to or unfamiliar with softpaws, we really like em. They make it so that I can play with Mom's hands and not hurt her. Also I don't hurt the furniture or the curtains or the hardwood floors. And now I won't hurt LT either! And he won't hurt me. Once he gets to wear them. Mom doesn't want to scare him with them right away, so he probably won't wear them for a while.

We can't put LT in the room with the bean litter box, because I eat in that room. And I'm excited about a brother and all, but I'm not giving up food for him! We think he's gonna stay in the room where Mom has a desk and books and computer printer and stuff like that. We think. Mom says she'd rather him have a more comfortable spot, like maybe the room with the bed that nobody sleeps in, but it's all the way upstairs and she thinks she should keep him closer to where we all hang out.

Thanks for the advice and efurrything! Tomorrow night if I have enough time when I'm not playin' with my new brother I'll post an update and maybe some pictures.

Gettin' Ready

We're gettin' ready for my new brother. We're figurin' out where he would like to hang out while he and I get used to each other. I'm getting my softpaws on the claws that are out, so I won't hurt him by accident. My mom also ordered him some tiny softpaws. Hope he'll be still for her to put them on! UPDATE: we ordered blue softpaws because they only come in clear, pink and blue in the kitten size.

He's furry cute, as you can see here. His current roommate, Bubbles, seems furry glad that LT is comin' to live with me. Isn't that nice of him? I thought so.

My Daddy gets to name LT, and he's still thinkin' that LT's name should be Hairy Potter, in honor of the Great Wizard Harry Potter. My Daddy loves Harry Potter. But we have to wait until we meet LT to make sure it fits.

It won't be long! LT will be here Saturday!

It's About Time

Well, innernets! Here I am! I'm back! I can't believe how long I've been out of touch. SO many things happened while Mom and Dad are out of town, but I can't share too much because Mom reads my blog. I have no privacy. But I do want to say thanks to all of you that teleported over to keep me company while they were gone.

Mom and Dad are home now, and I yelled and yelled at them, but then Mom picked me up and cuddled me and ruined my perfectly good mad mood. I couldn't help it-- I purred. I was weak, but it had been a long time and she knows just how to scratch my head and rub my tummy.

It won't be long before my little brother gets here! I am so excited. I let Mom set aside some of my Christmas toys so that he can have some, and we'll get some new ones together. I'm thinking of all the things to tell him and show him, and I'm really excited about it!!!

Secret Paws!!

So, when Mommy FINALLY came home from work today, there was a box at our front door. And guess what? It was for me. It's about time that I was allowed to check out one of the boxes at the door. Usually they get taken away and put out of my reach... Anyway, so here I am sniffin' it out. I could smell somethin' comin' outta that box, if you know what I mean.

Then I read the very nice card that was included, complete with a Cat's Christmas Prayer, which was furry sweet.
Then I unwrapped all the packages...
And this thing immediately became my favorite! It's a purple (my favorite color!) mousie, and you know what else, it's got NIP in it. Told ya I could smell somethin'. I played and played and played with the mousie....

Then I finally realized there were more things in the box!!! There were treats-- so many treats!!! Two kinds of Pounce treats, some Temptayshuns, AND some Whisker Lickin's!!! I'm so excited, I've never tasted ANY OF THESE BEFORE OH MY GOSH! I started off with the Pounce moist tuna flavor. Yummy!!! Also, there's some chasey-jingley-balls. And a catnip play heart, which is totally kewl b/c I love the nip. Here I am checkin' out all my loot!

Thank you Thank you Thank you to my secret paws, the Tyson Crew! And guess what? There's like a SCHMILLION of them!! There are 3 beans, plus 12 (TWELVE!!!) fuzzes (Ashley, Ebony, Dusk, Dawn, Beltaine, Morrey, Thor, Eclipse, Corona, Fwiskie, Queenie and Tabitha) and one woofie named Sadie (hey, that's my mom's name!). Thank you so furry much, and Merry Christmas to effury one of you!!!

Finally, some peace

Mommy started her temp-hor-hairy job today. I am finally able to enjoy some peace and quiet around the house! I do miss her, though, I guess. Don't tell her, though, I want her to think I'm independent and grownup and stuff.

I am so exhausted from entertaining her for the past six weeks, so I'm gonna go get unner my tree and take a long nap. I'm starting to plan for my new brother's arrival, too. I will update you all as soon as I can wake up, but right now, I'm... just... so... sleepy...

Mommy and I really appreciate all the advice and suggestions. We'll check out all the websites and stuff.

I have never been around other kitties, 'cept when I was a baby and I lived outside... I was found living with a group of three other kittens, but they weren't my littermates, I was a couple weeks older than the others. But since then, it's been just me, and the woofies.

Mommy's hopin' that LT and I will like each other and be best friends, but she knows it might not be so easy. Since LT knows about bein' around other kitties (the 2Bs) maybe he can teach me about it. She's also hopin' since he's little (3 months old I think) and I'm only 1 (and a half) that we'll learn to love each other.

Keep it coming with the advice and suggestions!!! Thanks, guys!

Well, the verdict is in! DADDY SAID YES! I'm getting a BROTHER!!!! He's not coming until after the New Year because Mommy and Daddy are gonna go outta town at Christmas and don't wanna leave my brother alone like that. Me they'll leave, I guess. Whatever, I don't care! I'm gettin' a BROTHER!

I'm furry excited. I'm gonna show him my window and my tree and where's the best spot to see birdies, and I'm gonna introduce him to my woofies, cause they'll be his woofies too. Maybe he can teach me how to sleep with my tummy showin' like he does, b/c I don't do that. And I'll have somebody to snuggle with and play with and wrestle with, even when Mommy's not home!

Doesn't he look like me? I think maybe we were supposed to be brothers. I think Bubbles will really like me now, for getting LT out of his house. ;) Okay, and LT will also need his forever name. Mommy says Daddy gets to choose, but if you have suggestions let us know. Daddy named me, too, and wants LT to have a magical name to go with mine. Like "Hairy Potter." Are there other magician or wizard names that you can think of to suggest?

My mommy keeps waiting for me to do something new she can take a picture of. Because, she says, almost ALL the pictures of me have me either sleepin, in my window, or (recently) unner my tree.

But I like sleepin, and bein' in my window, and bein' unner my tree.

So that's where I am and what I'm doin. And that's my Kitty Prerogative! Anycat that wants to teleport over and join me is welcome!

Sweet Libby Marie Riley went to the Rainbow Bridge today. She was unnerneath her Christmas tree, and I like to be under my Christmas tree, too, so I've been thinkin' about her while I lie unner my tree.

Also, she might have a temp-or-hairy job to do for a while, so that's good, it means she can keep me in nip, but today she had to go pee in a cup or somethin' so they can make shoor she's not on the nip herself... Some cats have wondered, "hey, Merlin, what do you do when you're not in your favorite window?" Well, I like to play with fishies, chase fev-ver butt mousies, eat, clean myself, nap, snuggle with Mommy.... and also sit in one of the other windows as you can see in this pickshur. Also, Daphne has issued a challenge to me to write her a Christmas love poem, AND she has listed some words that I have to include. Wow! That's gonna be tough! I'd better get busy...

Lots Going On

First of all, guess what? Mommy talked to Daddy about LT last night. She showed him pictures, and told him the story about how he was living in a place that got destroyed by construckshun eekwipment and effurything. He didn't say yes.... BUT HE DIDN'T SAY NO! But Mommy says that until he says yes efurrycat out there should still be lookin' for a forever home for LT in case Daddy does say no...

Also? My mom knows I was sad not goin' owtside, so she brought a TREE into the livin' room! Just for me! She even put lights on it to keep me warm and put a blanket unnerneath so I have a place to lie down. I like to lie on my back and look up at my tree. Mommy thinks that furry funny because I NEVER lie like that, ever. That's why I had to stop doin' Tummy Tuesday, cause there weren't enough pictures of my tummy! Here's some pickshurs. Whaddya Think?

Okay. So you may know that there's a kitty at Bubbles & Mrs. B's house that needs a home. My mommy says that my daddy will never agree to it, but we're still thinkin' about it, cause Mommy likes to torture herself like that.

LT is furry cute, and he looks like me! But Mommy says she has heard that two boy kitties often won't get along. And since Bubbles didn't like LT, this possibility concerns us cause Mommy doesn't want to get a new kitty and then if I don't like him she'll have to find him a NEW place. So, I need advice from all you kitties and beans that have multi-kitty households. Is it okay to have two boy kitties? Or is it better to get one boy kitty and one girl kitty?

Update from Merlin's Mom: I'm going to talk to Merlin's Daddy about this, but if you know someone who might be able to adopt LT please don't assume he's going to come live with us, or let my interest keep you from mentioning it to someone who wants a kitten. Merlin's Daddy is allergic to kitties and it is definitely NOT a sure thing, or even a likely thing.
